"The Alexa App must be logged onto an Amazon account." The typical Amazon Account will have Payment Methods on the account. Anyone logged into YOUR account can access your payment information.
OPTION 1: Your Amazon Account
If your Loved one is in their own home and your comfortable with them using your account you can log them in as you.
OPTION 2: Your Loved Ones Amazon Account
If your Loved one is in an Assisted Living Home, it is recommended they are using / provided an Amazon Account in their name with NO payment methods set up.
Pro:
Other people can converse with your loved one without you (your account) being involved.
Con:
A unique DEVICE is needed for the loved one's Alexa App install. If they have their own smartphone this is perfect. (even if the phone is no longer active, it can be logged on to any wifi to do configurations)
Note:
Often people have an old phone or tablet they can resurrect for this purpose.
The following is NOT needed if you are adding your loved on to your own account. (OPTION 1 Above)
When you swipe down from the top of an Echo Show you will see their menus one of which is called "Home Content". There are no less than two dozen settings in there most people will turn off to stop all the junk Amazon wants you to see. One setting that should remain on is...
"Shared With You" Photos Shared With You On Amazon Photos
If you have owned an Echo Show for any length of time you will know that somehow periodically, Amazon likes to turn all these settings back on. (Probably during updates). A trick many have learned.... in the Alexa App, go into the Echo Show Settings and change the Language to English (ANY OTHER COUNTRY) and it stops 99% of the Junk ads, promotions, etc.
The following steps walk you through this to be performed on Your Loved Ones Echo Show (and yours too if you wish)
Actually the connection is already there to Amazon Photos. These 8 steps show you how to "Choose" which Amazon Photo albums to be displayed on the Echo Show as slide shows when it is not doing anything else.
Note: If the Echo Show is not doing anything (not even playing the photo slide show) simply start it by saying "Alexa, Show Photo Frame".
PS: A routine can be created to trigger the Show Photo Frame command at scheduled times. Instructions Here
After connecting Alexa App to a Calendar such as Google, Microsoft or Apple, the Echo Show will then display your upcoming calendar events on demand:
Alexa, Show My Schedule (displays upcoming events)
Alexa, Whats My Schedule (Reads the next 4 upcoming events)
PS: A routine can be created to trigger the "Whats My Schedule" command at scheduled times. Instructions Here
With the addition of a $10 smart plug from home Depot, a routine (Power On Echo Show at Selected Time) can be created to trigger at scheduled times, the Echo Show... to power ON... (and/or another to power OFF). First the Smart Plug needs Configured in the Alexa App as seen here.
