This all began when my mother in Pennsylvania went into an Assisted Living Home and I resided in Florida. Looking for a means to Video Chat, after numerous approaches, I found the best of solutions as follows.
Required:
At your loved one's location: (Assisted Living Facility or their home)
Echo Show 15 or Echo Show 21
WiFi with internet access
Amazon Account accessible by you in your loved one's name (or for them).
Warning: A note about installing at a private facility.
Be sure to get the blessing of the facility administrator. In my case he loved the idea of camera in Mom's room
State law (in my case) prevents the use of any extension cords or outlet multipliers or UPS units (all three I had to remove). Bottom line ONE outlet is allowed ONE device plugged in.
At your location
A phone or tablet with WiFi connectivity and the Alexa App installed. The phone does not need service. (most people have an old one laying around)
The Alexa app logged in with the same Amazon Account as your loved one is using on the Echo Show
