The Echo Show line of products permit "Drop In" capability allowing those who have been provided permission to drop in (start a video call) without the need for the loved ones interaction. As my mother got older she could no longer remember to say "Alexa Answer" when the Echo Show was ringing an incoming call.
The Echo Show 15 or Echo Show 21 are the only ones in the product line that include Fire TV which is utilized to launch apps such as
Amazon Music for songs, playlists and podcasts;
Amazon Prime Video for Movies
YouTube for playing clips of interest for you loved one, Concerts, Railroad interests, Cooking, Live cams of Pandas, etc
YouTube TV for TV programs to be scheduled throughout the day or evening.
Each of the above four services are subscription services that come with a cost. None of the subscriptions are required or only the ones you wish to use might be purchased.
(Note: if you yourself already have a subscription to any of the above four, it can be shared with your loved one's Amazon or Google account)
Having none of the above subscriptions, our loved ones can still find entertainment in
Photo slideshows via Amazon Photos app (free)
Seeing calendar reminders of events throughout the day (their personal calendar connected via the Alexa App)
Making or receiving video calls
